wedding shower

My grandma Lynnette also hosted a wedding shower for us last Sunday. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of photos from that. The ones my mom took were funny, although not very representative of the party.

Many of my cousins and aunts and uncles came. Everyone was instructed to bring photos of their own weddings, so we had a lot of photos to look through documenting weddings over the generations. I saw the album of my grandma's grandparents!

bachelorette

we did the bachelorette thing. it was fun. the theme was *~*BLING*~* My friends kristal and jamie hosted it and they made all this yummy food. Kristal made amazing lemon strawberry cupcakes.

My friend Kelly made me a towel cake. it surprised me because she's a new doctor and has no free time. so I thought it was really nice of her to put it together.

first we had snacks.

then we went to our neighborhood bar where we knew everyone anyway, which makes me sound like a total alcoholic but whatever. someone brought a deck of those bachelorette party cards with dumb dares to do. one was do a shot with some boiz.

and thats the only card I did. because I have the alcohol tolerance of a ... something with no alcohol tolerance.

and then my fiance and his friends got bored at their party and met up with us. here is a horrifying picture.

marriage license!

Today we went to the Douglas County Clerk's office to get our marriage license. I'm glad we remembered to do this because it's one of those things that isn't in the front of our minds. (Is that weird?)

Yesterday I had my hair trial. I'm not sure I liked it. But I didn't wash it before this photo so it was just all pinned up on my head from the day before. Because I am classy.

So yep. We can get married now. We even get a keepsake fancy certificate that is not legal or anything--just for decoration. your tax dollars at work, omaha.

yeah..............not quite! things are coming along well, though. I have a few new updates to share. Maybe I should have let these things be surprises but I'm just too excited--and besides, I know not EVERYONE looks at the website and keeps up.

...the shoes were originally $12 from Charlotte Russe. And maybe a sweatshop. I put the crystals on the heels and the tulle rosettes on the vamps. and sewed the sequins on the strap (not sure whether to take or leave the strap yet). and painted the bottoms HOT PINK!

So there are a lot of photos of things that don't really matter in the big scheme of things.....there are still some pretty vital things I have to do though! for example...um.........write the ceremony. I'd say thats probably tops on the list of "things you need to do to get married."

Besides that...
Dave needs to try on the suit that's been in his closet for the last three months.
Communicate at some point with our officiant (my cousin, Riley)
Finish the corsages for the moms and grandmas and special ladies
Decide if we will have a dj....and make a playlist
Lots of thank you notes! You've all been wonderful!
